Diversity in Networking

When attending a networking event, are you going to meet new people or to socialize with the people you already know? Do you make it a habit to seek out individuals you have not seen at one of the events before?

Here are a few other questions for you regarding your network. How diverse is your network? Do you have individuals from various industries? Abilities? Positions? Locations? Faiths? Nationalities? Ages? Genders? Races? I deliberately placed race and gender last as when the term diversity is used, these areas are most commonly tied to the term. Remember, diversity is much more than race and gender.

So, let me ask the question again…how diverse is your network?
